Anti Goon Activism (AGA) is a public charity focused on awareness, education, and practical support for individuals and communities affected by compulsive media use (sometimes referred to colloquially as “gooning”). We build evidence-informed programs that emphasize healthy habits, attention hygiene, and positive alternatives.
Our mission is to reduce harm from compulsive media behaviors by empowering people with knowledge, community, and practical skills. We envision a world where technology supports well-being rather than fragmenting attention and eroding relationships.
Constant novelty-seeking can dysregulate the brain’s reward systems and shorten attention spans, leading to task-switching, procrastination, and poorer learning.
Late-night scrolling and overstimulation can worsen sleep quality and correlate with anxiety and low mood—especially when used to cope with stress.
Excessive solo media use can replace in-person connection, reduce intimacy, and create secrecy or conflict with partners or family.
Sedentary routines, irregular meals, and disrupted circadian rhythms associated with binge-like media sessions can affect overall health and energy.
Note: If media use is causing significant distress or impairment, consider speaking with a qualified health professional. AGA provides education and peer support; we do not offer medical treatment.
